Business owners know the huge role that Google Places listings play in both direct and indirect business. A well optimized Google Places listing can bring you direct business when people do searches on Google or via Google Maps (desktop or mobile) for your product, service, or industry. Many SEO experts also feel that a Google Places listing can help your site organically get more web traffic.
The Google Business Directory has evolved and changed names a few times over the last decade. Today we call it Google Places. You can setup your account and create your company listing or claim it by visiting https://www.google.com/local/business/ and searching for or adding your listing. If you company is already listed it would be better to claim it than to add it again.
For most entrepreneurs and online marketers we are long familiar with this process and the value of a good listing. Did you know you could check, edit, and build out your listings via an official Google Places app for Android?
– Update your business information, including hours, address, contact information, photos and description
– Keep your customers in the know by posting updates and photos
– Respond to comments and +1’s on your posts
– Learn how customers find and interact with your business with insights
– Manage multiple business locations from one app
This app is currently available for listings in the U.S. Please note that some accounts may not yet be usable with this app. Google is updating business data over the coming months to make all accounts fully compatible.
If you have multiple listings the application makes it very easy to toggle between them. It also has a nice feature that shows you how complete your listing is, prompting you to add or makes changes to fully complete your business profile.
Conveniently from the app you can also view some insights to see how many impressions and actions your listing had received over the last 7, 15, or 30 days. It will also show you top search queries that are driving your business impressions.
