Official Facebook App:: Android Users are still hungry?

With the new and official Facebook app for Android there is still a lot of talk among Android users in need of something more. In the last 6 months we have seen a good number of Facebook Android apps come into the market to satisfy the thirst but now even with the official app, users want more.

I admit that I’m mostly satisfied with the new official app. It does everything I would expect it to do and I understand that the more features you add to the app the heavier and slower it is. Some Android users (whiners) would do well to understand this.

Perhaps among the greatest new developments is the home screen widget displaying your news feed, and the live Facebook contacts folder which gives you quick access to the phone numbers of all your Facebook friends.

Here are a few screenshots from the new official app:

There is an Android Facebook App Fan page on facebook with a great video and additional updates!

What are your thoughts? Are you satisfied?

Honestly the only things I don’t like are how a lot of stuff opens in the browser, like photo’s, photo albums, etc… And also when I click someone’s status to see who commented it, I can’t see who clicked “like”. It just tells me “x people like this”.

Other than that, it’s a great app.

I love the app in itself, (especially the shake to refresh like the iPhone!) but I just wish it turned to the horizontal keypad on the MyTouch 3G when you post from the home screen to share what you’re doing. =(

Other than that, its fabulous! =)

Still to many dependant of the browser, needs a lot of work to get closer to iphone/ipod version… but anyway, a good taste.

The app leaves alot to be asked for…
maybe on the G1 (the phone i have) its perfect, still runs semi smooth etc etc

But im pretty sure that there is alot more to be done:
Chat should be incorporated (maybe as a separate app?)
if people post links to external websites like videos or articles its impossible to open them (unless im using the app wrong)
and the fact that most of the stuff opens in the browser is disgusting. i might as well just use the mobile version of facebook.com (which i do btw)
anyway it is my favourite Facebook app, but simply because its the official one.
and i have to add, the live folder is definitely the highlight for me :D
im not saying the app is crap, im just saying it leaves ALOT to be desired.
