The open source wordpress project is now building an official app for Wordpress. The author of the wpToGo app that we previously suggested to our readers is at the front of this new official app now available in the Android Market. So far I’m very impressed with what we are seeing the the development. It is necessary to enable Remote Publishing via XML-RPC in your Wordpress Writing Settings. This quick video will introduce you to the app if you haven’t already downloaded it.

Installing the Mobile Defense application and setting it up is really easy. You however will need a computer to get everything to the point that you can actually use and enjoy the application.

After you have downloaded and installed the application it will prompt you to sign in, both online and on the phone itself. Then once both accounts are created and everything is all set up the application will ask you to reboot the phone.

With so many services online to shorten your URLs many people are wondering how they should move forward. Short URLs are a huge convenience when working in limited space such as in twitter where you are limited to 140 characters or less. There have been a rash of announcements from carriers in the U.S. about launching new Smart Phones utilizing the Android OS (Operating System) from various manufacturers including venerable Motorola. With Motorola jumping into the Android pool head first with their launch of the ‘Cliq’ on November 19th on T-Mobile, and a second Android Smart Phone before year-end, is Android getting the traction it needs to challenge the two 800-pound Gorillas in RIM’s BlackBerry and Apple’s proprietary iPhone in the Mobile U.S. OS world?

Verizon is preparing to launch their first Android device and as part of the launch they are announcing a new website called Droid Does. The whole idea seems to focus on all the things that Android does that the iPhone doesn’t and of course you could fill an entire website with that kind of content. Here is a teaser video:
